Man Utd face shock competition in Liam Delap transfer chase as rival enters race
Manchester United are among the clubs interested in Ipswich star Liam Delap, but Everton have become the latest side to be linked with the former Manchester City striker
Manchester United are facing more competition in the race to sign Liam Delap, with Everton becoming the latest club to target the Ipswich striker. Although Ipswich look set to be relegated to the Championship, Delap has enjoyed a breakout Premier League campaign.
The 22-year-old has scored 12 goals in 30 games for Kieran McKenna's side this season, having joined Ipswich from Manchester City for a fee of around £15million last summer. Delap had made just two top-flight appearances before signing to Ipswich, having previously spent time out on loan in the Championship with Hull, Preston and Stoke.
As a result of his impressive form and a clause in his contract that will make him available for £30m if Ipswich go down, Delap is attracting interest from a number of clubs. United have reportedly made Delap their top attacking target this summer, with Ruben Amorim set to oversee a major squad overhaul.
Mirror Football understands that United are hoping to raise around £200m by offloading unwanted players like Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia, Casemiro, Andre Onana and Alejandro Garnacho to bankroll Amorim's rebuild.
However, the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle have previously been linked with Delap and a new report from the Sun claims that Everton are preparing to enter the race for his services.

The report states that Moyes is happy to wait in the hopes that other clubs will target other players instead of Delap and give Everton a genuine chance to get their man.
Moyes is also said to be eyeing moves for Liverpool winger Ben Doak, Burnley defender Maxime Esteve and Sunderland youngster Chris Rigg.
Everton may also have to sell some players this summer, but Moyes has insisted he wants to keep hold of Jarrad Branthwaite. The centre-back is once again attracting interest from United, but Moyes has issued a warning.
"You have to remember Jarrad Branthwaite has got three years left on his contract," he told reporters. "You've got two years and a year's option, so if anything, Everton hold all the cards regarding that player.
"I have to say also over the journey over many years that I've had at Everton, we've had to sell different players from Wayne Rooney to Mikel Arteta and Joleon Lescott.
"It's part of being a football manager, especially at certain clubs, you have to sell on the journey to try and build as well. But I wouldn't think that Jarrad is one that I would want to lose. That's for sure."
