Emmerdale fans argue Ella was 'done dirty' during star's final scenes
Ella bid farewell to the Dales after the police came to arrest her
Emmerdale fans argued that Ella Forster was "done dirty" as her final scenes in the Dales aired after she desperately tried to prove her innocence.
During Thursday's (3rd April) episode, Ella reached boiling point as she returned to the village determined to get Liam to believe her, and involved Mandy Dingle in the process.
In recent episodes, Ella found herself alienated from friends in the village after she was accused of drugging Chas which led to her sudden collapse in the Woolpack.
Chas pointed the finger at Ella after she believed that Liam's ex wanted him back after he ended his relationship with Ella earlier in the year to pursue things with Chas.
After calling and messaging Liam repeatedly, Ella showed up at Mandy's house and tried to get her to encourage Liam to speak with her.
As Mandy protested, Ella reached her limit and grabbed a knife, forcing Mandy's hand as she called Liam. Upon his arrival at the house, he was shocked to find Mandy stood with Ella as she wielded the knife.
Ella begged and pleaded with Liam to listen to her, she told him that Chas had orchestrated all of this to make him hate her, as she said: "She's trying to destroy me."
She declared her love for Liam, trying to convince him that they could make it work. Agreeing to listen, he encouraged her to tell the truth as he pretended he would consider getting back together.
Ella then admitted to swapping Chas' pills and making her overdose which led to Liam saying they have to go and tell Chas what she said. Feeling lied to, as she told Liam she didn't really drug Chas and made it up thinking it would make her love him, she ran from the scene.
Liam chased after her, catching up with her in the woods. As the pair wrestled, Ella shoved Liam to the ground causing him to hit his head on a rock.
Fortunately, Liam was still alive and the pair had a heart to heart. Moments later, the police arrived to arrest Ella as she told Liam once more that she never drugged Chas.
Upon Paula Lane's exit, fans took to social media. On X (formerly known as Twitter), @CariadGomez suggested: "Still think it's John doing all this. He's got Ella working for him and making her take all the blame"
@1madwoman1962 wrote: "Ella is innocent" as @thedubhdog added: "Oh don’t make her go to prison. This is so annoying." Another viewer @joy9kat said: "Justice for Ella!"
On a Facebook fan page, one viewer wrote: "Is it just me who thinks Ella was done dirty? Her exit seems so unfair, love Paula Lane, brilliant acting."
Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
