Viewers of The Feud are already gripped just moments into the new Channel 5 drama. The six-part thriller, shot in Newcastle, launched on Monday (April 14) night and didn't hold back on the drama from the start.

In the opening episode, audiences met Emma and John Barnett, who live with their teenage daughter, Beth. The couple enjoy a close friendship with their neighbours, getting along well with Alan and Sonia next door, and despite their quirks, they have a soft spot for elderly couple Derek and Barbara. However, neighbour Nick across the street can be somewhat troublesome.

Emma and John had plans to relocate but Emma had a change of heart and during one of Shelbury Drive's summer street parties, she informed John that she wants to stay and extend their kitchen instead.

Emma quickly shared the exciting news with her neighbours but it stirred up significant turmoil within their close-knit community, reports Chronicle Live.

Tensions escalate when objections to the plans are voiced. Derek and Barbara were not fond of the idea, arguing it would harm their 'precious tree'.

Nick is also concerned that the noise will disrupt his sleep, and that increased traffic will cause problems on the street. He opts to install CCTV to monitor the situation.

Sonia, however, is delighted that her friends are staying put. Despite the backlash, Emma proceeds with the extension and does everything in her power to secure planning permission as swiftly as possible.

The Feud
The Feud kicked off on Monday (April 14) night and there was plenty of drama from the get go

Nick's response to the rocky situation saw him sharing a video from his street CCTV to the neighbourhood group chat.

As events unravel, Emma finds herself plunging into an abyss of paranoia, her anxiety amplified by the escalating tension in the area.

Such is the allure of the show that fans haven't hesitated to express their excitement on social media, with immediate reactions appearing post-broadcast.
