A massive power cut in Dublin city centre has left nearly 2,000 homes and businesses without electricity.

A total of 1,846 customers have been affected by the outage on Marrowbone Lane this morning. Traffic lights are out in the area stretching all the way to Abbey Street.

The power cut is also affecting Luas junctions.

Luas Red Line services were suspended between Belgard and Saggart after a car smashed into a tram in Fettercairn this morning. A Garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are currently at the scene of a collision involving a car and a light rail transit vehicle that occurred on Fettercairn Road, Dublin 24 at approximately 6:15am this morning, Thursday 10th April 2025."

In other commuter news, the following Irish Rail services will operate with reduced capacity:

Thousands without electricity

A massive power cut has left thousands without power in Dublin city centre.

Nearly 2,000 customers are affected by the outage on Marrowbone Lane. Traffic lights are out all the way up to Abbey Street.

The outage is also affecting Luas junctions.

A notice on the ESB website states the estimated restore time is 10am. A spokesperson said: "We apologise for the loss of supply. We are currently working to repair a fault affecting your premises and will restore power as quickly as possible."

Traffic lights out

There is an ESB fault in Dublin central, coming from the Marrowbone Lane area and affecting Abbey Street. Luas junctions in the area are also affected.

Crash on the M4

There is a collision on the M4 Eastbound at Junction 4 Newcastle. It is blocking lane 3 and lane 2.

Luas services operating with delays

A Luas spokesperson said: "Please be advised that Red Line services are back operating with delays due to an earlier road traffic incident at Fettercairn. Please allow additional time for travel as we regulate the service. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

No Luas services due to a crash

A Luas spokesperson said: "Please be advised that there is currently no service operating between Belgard and Saggart due to an RTI at Fettercairn. There are replacement buses operating between these stops for the duration of this disruption. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
