A thug left his friend with part of his ear hanging off after a brutal slashing.

Logan Smith, 23, turned on Kris Guthrie at his home in Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, on May 9 2024.

The pair got into an argument while they were drinking together which turned violent.

Smith struck Mr Guthrie to his ear which caused a "complex laceration" and "detachment of tissue." The victim required a number of stitches to put his wound back together.

Smith pled guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assault to Mr Guthrie's injury and permanent disfigurement.

The court heard that Smith, his former partner Demi Hay and Mr Guthrie were together drinking alcohol that night. Smith initially got into an argument with Miss Hay before Mr Guthrie had verbals with him.
