Pedestrian, 35, dies in collision on major Welsh road as lorry driver arrested
A 62-year-old has been arrested in connection with the tragedy
A 35-year-old man has died following a collision with a vehicle on a busy main road in north Wales on Tuesday morning, police have confirmed. North Wales Police officers were called to the westbound carriageway of the A55 in Rhyl near to Kinmel Services where they discovered the body of a male pedestrian at 8.14am.
A 62-year-old HGV driver has been been arrested in connection with the incident and investigations are ongoing.
The road was closed for hours while investigations were carried out at the scene.
In a statement on Tuesday evening North Wales Police said the man's family are being supported by specially-trained officers.
After the road reopened just before 5pm a spokesperson for the force said: "We are appealing for anyone who travelled along the A55 between 4.50am and 5.10am, between St Asaph and Abergele on the westbound or eastbound carriageway, and who has dashcam footage, or who saw a pedestrian on the carriageway to contact us via our live webchat online or on 101 quoting reference C053155.
"Finally, we would remind our online readers that this is still a live investigation.
"Please do not speculate within the comments, as this may be deemed prejudicial to any potential court proceedings, and we would also ask that you respect the victim’s family at this difficult time."
