Due to a breakdown in the relationship between the player and club, the 28-year-old, who has two years left on his contract, last played for United in <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/dec/12/europa-league-viktoria-plzen-manchester-united-match-report">a 2-1 Europa League win at Viktoria Pilzen</a> in December 2024.
